​After escaping a severely abusive relationship, I thought I had found an actual safe house run by my long time friend.. Instead, I was sexually harassed and thrown out when I refused his advances.
​My retirement income covers basic survival, but it cannot cover the steep upfront costs required to secure a safe apartment—including rent deposits, power setup, food, and basic furniture—nor can it cover my past-due car payments.
