I am a devoted pet mom and a full time graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley studying Social Welfare. As I was getting ready for school in the morning, my dog Albondiga (AKA Bunjee) was panting heavily and dragging her back legs. I immediately took her to an emergency veterinary hospital. After an evaluation, they stated that she needed an MRI. The images showed that she had a herniated disc in the L/3 L/4 region and needed emergency spinal cord surgery! They spoke to me about my options and provided me within an estimate ranging from $13,029 - $33,000. They informed me that without the surgery she would remain in intense pain and would this lose her ability to ever walk again. I was emotionally distraught trying to get the funds to save her! I managed to secure a personal loan for part of the estimate. I still owe the emergency veterinary hospital money for the surgery they performed. I am seeking out help from the community to see if I can possibly get any support.
