    Wilson’s X-Ray

About this fundraiser

Meet Wilson. Wilson is a three year old cat that showed up at my doorstep as a young kitten.  I feed him and shortly afterwards he brought his friend, Pearl.  Pearl was also very young.  I was able to have them both neutered after months of feeding them and gaining trust.  During in climate weather they have warm and secure shelter outside of my front door (these are strays like many in the area). Wilson gained trust and I was able to pet him regularly which soon lead to a sweet bond.  I June of this year Wilson disappeared.  I had hope that he was taken in and living his best life.  I was so wrong.  On Sunday I woke up to the sound of a screaming cat.  I opened the front door and there was Wilson, very frail and skinny. I fed him and started to look him over to discover that he couldn’t really use his back legs (how he found his way back to me is a thought I can’t bare).  Not knowing how he would respond to coming i doors, i risked carefully picking him up and bringing him inside.  I have a cat and dog so setting up a space to isolate Wilson but not “hide” him from curiosity was my next challenge but one I gladly tackled.  Using a tent-like cat house I placed it on my bed and secured Wilson while allowing the onlookers to observe.  Whew, that is going very well.  I took Wilson to the vet clinic on Thursday morning to discover his right femur is broken in half, his left leg is dislocated from the hip and the femural socket bone (very technical description) is floating around somewhere so that can’t be reattached. He is still severely dehydrated but gets better with every wet meal.  It is suspected that Wilson was hit by a car in June and finally returned.  How did he survive the hot summer and bouts of rain storms?  Wilson will have his leg amputated on Tuesday and then he will become my new indoor cat forever.  I am asking those close to me for any financial assistance they can provide to help cover the cost of his surgery and some aftercare expenses. If you are able to contribute to this little fella’s next steps please do so through the link provided below.   I know it’s “just a cat” ,  I know he was a stray, and I also know that he is alive and deserves the best care. He survived the unthinkable and found his way back to me for a reason.
