Small lady, giant heart. To know Jeannie is to love her. She loves everyone equally without judgement, and whole heartedly cares about others, often putting her own needs last.
Jeannie hasn't had things easy, September 15, 2025 she got clean and sober and has maintained sobriety for the last nine months!!! (Woohoo!) She came to live in an Oxford house the 1st of November 2025 and has continued to live there while working her recovery. She attends meetings, reads literature and obtained a sponsor to guide her through working the 12 steps of AA. She also works a job and is of service to others as much as she can be. This is a lot to maintain but she does it!
On June 9, 2026 Jeannie was traveling to work on her e-bike when she was struck and run over by a large truck while going through the crosswalk at an intersection. She sustained injuries to her leg and was treated at the hospital and had surgery to repair the broken bones in her left leg. She sustained injuries to her thigh area where the tire ran over her leg as well. She also has bruising and cuts and scrapes. Thanks be to God she wasn't injured worse and is here to tell her story.
Unfortunately, this accident means Jeannie has a long road of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of her including home health visits from the nurse, Physical therapy, and care from the orthopedists. She was discharged home 6/12/26 and is in a leg immobilizer with a soft cast. She has a walker and other equipment needed for home care. She is strong and proving it everyday!
Jeannie resides in an Oxford House which is a half way house for women in recovery. Rent is $200 weekly and they have strict rules regarding payment and do not allow you to become more than two weeks late without intervention and risk of eviction from the house. This is a very real threat and she is in dire need of assistance to maintain her residence. Jeannie is in a drug court program and doing well, however if she is evicted with a balance owed, she will be taken into custody. Jeannie needs time to recover and get rehabilitated without getting evicted. She also needs assistance with food and basic needs. She could benefit from having shorts she can wear that will slide up over the immobilizer easily, and loose comfortable clothing. She also will need money for transportation to therapy and other appointments. The list goes on. She doesn't have any relatives locally and none that are in a position to provide significant financial help.
So I'm asking you, please, let's help out our caring friend as much as possible so she can stay in her residence and get through this extremely difficult time, until she is recovered enough to return to work. She needs all the love and support we have to offer! She has an excellent support system and a massive friend group so, Thank you in advance!
P.S. my name is Stephanie I have lived in Oxford house with Jeannie for the last 8 months, we've been roommates, housemates and sober sisters. I've gotten to know and love her and value our friendship immensely! I will be here with her, looking out for her and managing her fundraiser, as she trusts me to do so. Let's Rally!
