After recently going through a divorce, I am now a single mother doing everything I can to rebuild a stable, healthy future for myself and my 9-year-old daughter. I recently graduated college and became a licensed massage therapist, something I worked incredibly hard for and am very proud of. But despite my efforts, trying to survive in Las Vegas on a single income without any family support has become overwhelming.

This move to Virginia is not just about relocating. It’s about finally having a support system again. I have family there, including my granddaughter who is turning 3 years old and whom I’ve only been able to see twice. Being closer to loved ones would give me emotional support, stability, and help with childcare that I simply do not have here.

On top of everything, my aunt — the last female elder in my family and the woman who truly helped teach me how to be a woman — passed away on May 8th. Her funeral is May 22nd in Illinois. Losing her has completely shattered me emotionally. She was one of the last people I could call for guidance, comfort, and strength. Now it feels like it’s just me and my little girl trying to figure life out alone.

This transition has become even more urgent because emotionally, financially, and mentally, my current situation is no longer sustainable. I am trying my best to stay strong for my daughter while grieving one of the biggest losses in my life and navigating this major life change completely on my own.

The funds raised will go directly toward essential moving expenses including transportation, travel costs, safe and affordable housing, deposits, basic necessities, and helping us get settled so we can finally start over in a stable environment surrounded by family support.
