À propos de cette collecte de fonds

My grandmother, Vera L. Harris recently passed away.

She was the matriarch of our family! A loving mother of 3 & grandmother with a host of great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren!

Originally from Meridian, Mississipi, she was born into a large family, which eventually gave her 12 siblings. To assist with financial strain on her family, she worked summers as a caregiver for a disabled child.

When her family moved to Chicago, she met her husband in 6th grade after he stole her ink pen. She got a job at Wrigley chewing gum factory & she worked there over 35 years to help provide a wonderful life for her children.

She wore many hats in life and was always cooking. She loved going to church. She was the treasurer of her block club, she would spend many hours cleaning up her block and tending to her garden.

While we are mourning her loss, we have ran into difficulty taking care of the hefty costs that come with planning a funeral. My grandmother reserved a burial plot next to her husband, however, we were not prepared to have to pay to have the plot opened. We were under the impression that it was fully prepaid.

We are calling up family, friends and our community to help us reach our goal to give my grandmother the proper homegoing she deserves and to fulfill her wishes of being laid to rest next to her husband for eternity!!
