About this fundraiser

A Good Read Literacy Initiative is a  movement that will help inner city children and teens the opportunity to expand their minds, their goals and aspirations and to show them not only how to dream of great adventures and escape into beautiful imaginations of evolution, but also that those dreams can be brought to fruition. We are placing 30+ “little free library” outlets throughout the city of Philadelphia. Instead of the “take a book leave a book”  approach that pre existing book boxes have, our boxes  DO NOT require a book to be left! In fact, we encourage children and parents to help themselves and our motto is simply “take a book, read a book”! We are also establishing what we will call “reading hour” that will be 2 groups of 15-20 children in 10 various playgrounds / rec centers throughout Philadelphia that will have volunteers read adventurous storybooks to them each weekend (Saturday OR Sunday) for 3 hours throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons. With winter reading hours being held inside rec centers. We need help to bring this to fruition and would appreciate ANY contribution or donations!
