  • Ryann Update 💗

It’s been a while since we’ve shared an update, and we are so grateful to say that Baby Ryann has been doing better than anyone expected. Despite the doctors’ early concerns of 80% brain damage, she continues to amaze us every single day.

She is now able to eat from a bottle and no longer relies on a feeding tube. She does struggle with overactivity and has been diagnosed with CVI (Cerebral Visual Impairment), but she’s growing beautifully and brings us so much joy. Watching her personality emerge has been such a gift—she definitely likes to keep us on our toes!

This past week has brought some challenges. We noticed Ryann wasn’t quite acting like herself, so we took her to the hospital. At first, they believed she was just dehydrated and sent us home. When things still didn’t seem right, we returned, and there was concern she might have hydrocephalus, so she was admitted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Thankfully, the neurologists here don’t believe that’s the case. However, Ryann has started having seizures again, and testing shows a lot of activity in the rear left area of her brain, which appears to be where the seizures are coming from. She’s currently undergoing a 24-hour EEG study so doctors can learn more and determine the best next steps for her care.

Through it all, Ryann continues to show incredible strength, and we are endlessly proud of our little fighter. Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, and support—it truly means the world to our family. 💕

About this fundraiser

Sweet Baby Ryann Addison made her entrance into the world earlier than expected, born on May 8th at 3:28 PM, nearly three weeks before her due date of May 28th. Her early arrival was due to her mother developing preeclampsia, which required an urgent induction. The delivery was incredibly difficult—Ryann’s mother suffered a torn cervix and had to undergo emergency surgery immediately after giving birth.

Despite the trauma, both mom and baby remained in the hospital until May 13th due to ongoing concerns: mom’s dangerously high blood pressure and Ryann’s initial weight loss. At her first well-baby checkup on May 14th, Ryann had lost a slight bit of weight, but the doctors were still hopeful. At her next visit on May 16th, she had gained a little, which was a positive sign.

Then, just a day later, on the morning of May 17th, Ryann’s mom sensed something wasn’t right. Trusting her instincts, she took Ryann to the local hospital. While their initial findings were not alarming, her mother insisted on further evaluation. Thankfully, Children’s Hospital agreed to take a closer look, and Ryann was transported there.

That decision may have saved her life.

Shortly after arriving at Children’s Hospital, Ryann’s condition began to deteriorate. After running multiple tests—including blood work and a spinal tap—it was confirmed that she had an E. coli infection in her body. While the infection did not reach her brain, the body’s response to the infection caused brain swelling, which cut off oxygen and blood flow. This led to a double stroke, a devastating complication for such a tiny fighter.

Doctors immediately adjusted treatment, and Ryann’s mom was praised for her early action. While the infection has since been cleared, the swelling and strokes have had a serious impact. Ryann has suffered seizures, is currently not alert, and has had to be placed on a feeding tube, as she is not eating on her own.

Her parents are now facing the unimaginable: recovering from a traumatic birth, caring for a critically ill newborn, and coping with emotional and financial stress. As they stay focused on Ryann’s care and the uncertainty of what lies ahead, we are reaching out to ask for your help.

Whether it’s a prayer, a donation, or simply sharing this message, your support can help lift some of their burden and allow them to focus on what matters most—being there for Ryann.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with them in this incredibly difficult time.
