Baptiste "Dreamer" Lambert
was a young Oglala Sioux cowboy and bareback bronc rider from the Rosebud Sioux Reservation who was tragically killed by gun violence in May 2025 at the age of 23. He was also known by the nickname "Cowboy Lou".
He was known for his polite demeanor, strong work ethic, and for encouraging Native youth in rodeo sports. In his memory, his family and community established an annual memorial walk during the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Fair Wacipi and Rodeo to raise awareness and prevent gun violence in Indian Country.
Funeral services and a wake were held in Rosebud, South Dakota, with his final resting place at the Lambert Family Cemetery.
I wake up every morning to instantly feel the most horrific gut wrenching pain in my stomach, caused from losing my child, I’m living my worst nightmare but I do find comfort in keeping my sons life and memories alive his life mattered so we come together to honor his memory and work towards a future where such senseless acts of violence are a rarity. Baptiste deserves to be remembered and we want to use this fundraiser to make a difference in our communities by supporting efforts to address and prevent gun violence now and in future generations.
