On February 9, 2024, I went into surgery for a pacemaker exchange. I needed a completely new system. Unfortunately I suffered a life threatening injury/complication. While removing my Atrial lead, it fractured and cut open my SVC/RA. I suffered a complete tear. I crashed on the table. As a result, I had to be put on Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) while they saved me and repaired my heart. I had to be on a ventilator an additional 24-36 hours.
I woke up on February 12, 2024 in Cardiac ICU having no knowledge of what occurred. I was then told by my mom and doctor what happened. I was then told the new pacemaker was not implanted due to the severity of what happened. That a ventricle lead fragment still remains in my heart. I was in the hospital for 8 days.
The post op has been incredibly difficult. I faced surgical site infections, lasting damage to my right lung. I've also developed high blood pressure that requires medication to keep it out of critical range.
I was able to travel to Cleveland Clinic in August 2024 to meet with a specialized team. We spent months working with a local team for specialized cardiac imaging, Echo's and halter monitors. A stress test shows my heart is not performing well under pressure and my blood pressure spikes dangerously.
I saw my Cleveland Clinic team on November 19th. It was determined that I am struggling with bradycardia with debilitating symptoms. That a new pacemaker is needed to take the strain from my heart. I only have two potential options: a leadless pacemaker or an epicardial pacemaker. This requires travel to my team at the Cleveland Clinic for cardiac surgery.
I need help to cover the travel costs. This surgery and recovery has left me with trauma, and has taken a huge financial toll. I will have to pay for airfare, hotel, and boarding for my service dog in training as she is unable to travel with me. I also have to coordinate for travel home post op, and assistance at home. I ask for help. I want to live, I want to be around to see my son grow up, I want to feel better than I currently do.
Funds will used to cover the travel costs and copays for Cleveland Clinic.

This was when I was moved out of ICU.
