  • Cleft Care Journey for Ruth-Irene

Ruth-Irene is now 3 months old. She is a happy baby girl. She enjoys the company of her older sisters and family. She has a beautiful smile and is a strong baby girl. Because of her amazing care team, the support from family, and the prayers, love, and donations, she is on track to her best life possible. She is eating well and no longer has a need for home oxygen. She has received her preoperative devices to prep her nose, lip, and palate for surgeries in the coming months. Her first surgery is scheduled for the end of May. We have so many mixed emotions around her upcoming surgery. This journey is so specific to the child and there are a lot of unknowns in the beginning. But she has an amazing care team and we know shes in great hands! We have a daily routine of cleaning and caring for her palate. While this is a lot of time and energy for her, she is tolerating it all so well and can even smile through the process! We are so grateful to everyone who has donated and for all of the support. We know that her growth has a lot to do with the love and prayers she is receiving from all of you. We are excited to see her grow and reach her milestones in her own way and in her own time.

    Cleft Care Journey for Ruth-Irene

About this fundraiser

In December of 2025, our family grew as we welcomed our third beautiful daughter into the world. Ruth-Irene was born with a cleft lip and palate. This is a birth defect that effects 1-700 babies born. It is one of the most common birth defects. That being said, it requires specialized medical care to enhance quality of life. For Ruthi, this means frequent traveling to her primary care team and many different specialists, a daily preoperative routine, multiple surgeries over time, and more things that we can't foresee at this time.

The treatments that she is receiving now and will continue to receive will aid in her ability to eat, learn,  speak, and thrive as she grows. As many families know, the costs of travel, lodging, time away from work, and medical-related expenses add up quickly.

We are raising funds to help cover:

• Travel to and from specialist appointments

• Lodging and meals during hospital stays

• Surgical and recovery-related expenses

• Ongoing care as she grows

Every donation—no matter the size—helps ease the financial burden so that we, as a family,  can focus on what matters most: providing her with the positive and enriching life she deserves.

If you’re unable to give, we would be deeply grateful if you could share this fundraiser and keep baby Ruth-Irene in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this journey. We will be sharing updates along her journey!
