Allow us to formally introduce ourselves ❤️
We are Cody & Chelsea Sheldon 💍
If you find your way to our page, it's because you have been following our journey on my personal page since 2020 ✨️
So how did we get here?
Why are we sharing our story?
Right before we got married we started exploring our options to one day expand our family. Watching my husband be the best {bonus} dad to my/our 3 boys...it was kind of hard not wanting a child with him.
After we got engaged we went in with a mindset. Whatever happens, happens. Months went by and still no luck. I had my yearly checkup due with my ob/gyn. We expressed our concerns. I had some blood work done and the doctor wrote Cody a slip for basic lab work and an analysis.
And then we were hit with the gut wrenching news. Many people don't talk about. It's always about infertility on the woman's side and never the man's side.
We wound up being 1 in 100.
#MaleInfertility
We had another set of tests done.
The results came back the same.
When we finally met with the reproductive specialist...it was an awful experience.
I will never forget that day.
He came into our room and asked "Do you want me to sugar coat it or would you like me to rip the news off like a bandaid."
We just wanted honest answers.
But we were not ready for how it was delivered.
"You all will NEVER have a biological child of your own. So you'll either have to adopt or face the facts." We were so upset by the lack of empathy we walked out of the room and left.
Completely beside ourselves we put our dreams of welcoming another little one on the back burner.
✨️FAST FORWARD TO 2 MONTHS AGO✨️
After meeting with Cody's urologist we thought we had come to terms with the news that we were given years ago. But, our urologist suggested if we still wanted to pursue that, he could recommend us to another Reproductive specialist.
This is where our journey with Shady Grove began.
We had our first tele-health appointment with Cody's doctor, Dr. Shin (who by the way is amazing!) It was such a great appointment. He was very hopeful. When one clinic told you there would be a 0% chance and then this one gives you 50-60% chance, I seriously wanted to cry.
We were clinging on to whatever hope we could.
We then went to our in person appointment where the Dr. ran many tests on Cody. He discussed the blood work and it all made sense why we were facing the situation we were.
Far from an easy fix, the doctor highly suggested he start medication to help boost his testosterone and I begin all my baseline work for my testing.
We left that day with so much positive energy and hope.
24 hours after that appointment...
Dr. Shin calls - and when I tell you the excitement this man had when he called with results from one of Cody's test. It made us OVER THE MOON!
To go from Nothing....to now something 🥹
We have prayed so much over this situation.
The doctor has high hopes for us.
We have literally put it all over into God's hands and boy is He delivering.
I had my tele-health appointment on Thursday and it went great. I have A LOT of testing ahead of me in preparations.
It has already been determined that it will come down to IVF for us to conceive our little miracle.
We believe in the power of prayer.
We have been watching it unfold right before our eyes - so if you are the praying type...keep them coming!
If you have made it this far (it was hard condensing this down from over the last 4+ years) we appreciate you taking the time just to be here for us!
Raising the funds to help make this journey of ours a little less stressful is much appreciated!
xoxo,
Chelsea & Cody
