About this fundraiser

Dan is a 66 year old veteran, a loving husband of 46 years, a father and grandfather of 10 grandchildren who he would love to watch grow up. This transplant would mean a second chance at life, being able to walk again pain-free every day and allow him to finally return to the life he once enjoyed free from the daily struggle.

Dan’s determination with his constant battle with debilitating fatigue and the pain of asciteswhich is (fluid buildup) in his belly, legs and feet. Dan has remained positive throughout this process waking up everyday knowing he has to take medication to keep him going. We recently seen a liver specialist and found out his liver was worse than we expected.

Dan’s life has been a roller coaster, marked by the constant threat of complications like hepatic encephalopathy and frequent hospital visits. We're raising funds to help give him get his independence and build a healthy future. For years, Dan’s non alcoholic cirrhosis has chipped away at his ability to enjoy life, leaving him weak, and unable to work or participate in daily activities with loved ones.

Dan and his wife live on a small pension from a job he held for 29 year before retiring. Dan also receives a small social security check barely getting by, that is why we’re reaching out to provide a path to a second chance through a life-saving liver transplant.

The VA will provide the recovery lodging for both but his wife has to pay for food, toiletries car rental if needed, etc for 3 months in Oregon, also needing help buying food for there 2 cats and 1 dog who will have to be taken care of by a family member for those 3 months away from home.

Thank you 😊
