The Story:
Hi everyone,
My name is Darryl Mize, and I’m reaching out today because I’ve hit a hurdle that I simply can’t clear on my own. Usually, I’m the one who prefers to handle things myself, but a recent accident has put me in a position where I have to ask for a helping hand from my community.
Recently, I suffered a broken foot while on the job. Because it happened at work, I am currently navigating the workman’s comp process. While I am grateful for the medical coverage, it only provides 60% of my normal pay. As many of you can imagine, losing 40% of your income while bills remain at 100% creates a massive financial gap that is impossible to bridge alone.
I’ve been out of work for several weeks now, and the pressure of falling behind is starting to outweigh the physical pain of the injury.
Where I stand right now:
Housing ($1,600): I am currently short on my rent for the upcoming month. My home is my sanctuary, especially while I’m restricted to a medical boot, and the thought of losing my housing stability is incredibly stressful.
Transportation ($450): I have fallen behind on my car payment. This is especially worrying because I need my vehicle to get to my frequent physical therapy appointments so I can heal properly and get back to work as soon as possible.
My Goal: $2,050 My goal is specifically calculated to cover my $1,600 rent and bring my $450 car payment current. Reaching this goal would allow me to focus entirely on my physical recovery and rehab without the constant weight of potential eviction or repossession hanging over my head.
If you aren't able to donate, I completely understand. Times are tough for everyone. However, even sharing this link with your network or saying a prayer for a speedy recovery would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can provide. I can’t wait to be back on my feet and back to work!
With gratitude,
Darryl Mize
