My name is Crystal and I am writing to express my dream of traveling to Selma, Alabama. You may ask 'why' I want to do this? Well, all my life I have wanted to see, with my own eyes, where Martin Luther King Jr led over 600 marchers across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. I want to know why this peaceful protest was met with brutal attacks and how the footage of the violence shocked the nation and galvanized the fight against racial injustice in America. I believe this trip would be an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime learning experience for both me and my son, Jamarcus. I want him to learn firsthand how these brave and courageous black men and women came together to make such an impact on civil rights. Most of all, I want my son to forever know these American heroes and how they shaped American History. 

To make this happen….I need your HELP! I am a single mom living a very modest life. Currently, I am a paraprofessional working with disabled students. I have three kids. My life has had a lot of ups and downs but the Lord, through his many blessings, has kept me steady, healthy, and faithful to his word. Because of my inner need to take this journey.
