About this fundraiser

Hi, my name is Ellen Snow, and I need help with a life-changing surgery.

In 2005, I got breast implants. At the time, I had no idea that this decision would lead to years of debilitating health issues. Just three years later, I began to feel very sick. I was hospitalized multiple times with symptoms doctors couldn't explain.

Eventually, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and later several other chronic conditions, all of which severely impacted my life. Despite all of my treatments—including infusion chemotherapy to manage my symptoms—no one ever suspected that the implants I had placed so long ago could be the source of my suffering.

I lived in constant pain, with no answers, and I was forced to go on disability. For years, I felt hopeless as my health deteriorated further, and my ability to live a normal life seemed to slip away.

Then, recently, a doctor at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center finally connected the dots. He explained that all of the chronic illnesses I’ve been battling—my autoimmune diseases, pain, and the many symptoms I experience—are most likely caused by Breast Implant Illness (BII).

The doctor has now told me that I need to have my breast implants removed through a total mastectomy as soon as possible. If I don't, the ongoing damage could be fatal. I’m only 50 years old, and this surgery is critical to my survival.

Unfortunately, my health insurance is refusing to cover this surgery, claiming it’s cosmetic. This is devastating to me, as it feels like my chance at a normal, healthy life is being denied due to a decision made so long ago.

I am asking for help to cover the cost of this surgery, which is something I cannot afford on my own. I want to be well again. I want to be able to live a full, active life. I want to work again and pursue my dream of going back to school to earn my nursing degree.

This surgery is my first step toward reclaiming my health, but I need your support to make it happen. Please help me afford this life-saving procedure. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a world of difference.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. I am beyond grateful for your support, and I truly believe that with your help, I can get my life back.

With love and gratitude,
Ellen
