Being a two-time Olympian, five-time World Championship competitor, National Champion, and winner of multiple international events, can garner a person many benefits; however, it can not protect you from Cancer, and a falling housing market.
In my own battle with cancer, resulting in long intervals off work, I was fortunate to have many friends, family and strangers step up to help me.
As my 'little' brother Doug begins his fight against an aggressive form of prostate cancer, he and his family are facing an incredibly difficult road. The journey has already been grueling: since August, Doug has undergone multiple CT scans, MRIs, and preparatory procedures. He is currently on Androgen Deprivation Therapy, which has brought on extreme fatigue, joint pain, muscle atrophy & brain fog.
These symptoms have already taken a heavy toll on his livelihood. Doug has been forced to cancel coaching sessions and postpone his contracted renovation work. With daily radiation treatments on the horizon the combination of lost income and gaps in insurance coverage are creating a difficult road ahead; in fact, a critical test used to determine his best treatment options has already been denied coverage.
My brother is not one to ever ask for a handout, but he needs his community now more than ever. We started this fundraiser to bridge the financial gap, allowing Doug to focus entirely on his recovery rather than the weight of mounting bills. Your support, prayers, and generosity are a profound blessing to our family during this time. Thank you for standing with Doug."
