Our Sweet Boy
Hayden is a nine-month-old brown tabby who came into our lives and filled them with joy. From the very beginning, he had a personality bigger than his small body. He’s the kind of cat who makes everyone fall in love with him—strong, confident, and impossibly friendly. He doesn’t know a stranger. Every visitor is just a friend he hasn’t headbutted yet.
At nine months old, Hayden is still a baby. He should be spending his days getting into mischief, knocking things off tables, zooming through the house at 3 a.m., and learning that the red dot can never actually be caught. He should have years and years stretching out ahead of him—a whole lifetime of sunny windows, cozy blankets, and lazy afternoons.
Instead, Hayden is fighting for his life.
The Diagnosis No One Expects
No one adopts a kitten and imagines they’ll be facing a cancer diagnosis before his first birthday. That’s not how it’s supposed to go.
But that’s where we are.
Hayden has been diagnosed with nasal tumors, intestinal tumors, and lymphoma. Three separate cancers attacking his small body all at once. When the vet delivered the news, time stopped. This wasn’t real. This couldn’t be real. He’s just a kitten.
But it is real. And now we’re in a race against time to save him.
Nasal tumors make it difficult for Hayden to breathe comfortably—something most of us never even think about. Intestinal tumors threaten his ability to eat and absorb the nutrition his body desperately needs to keep fighting. And lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, is spreading through his little body even as you read this.
Each of these diagnoses alone would be serious. Together, they’re life-threatening. Hayden needs aggressive treatment, and he needs it now.
The Fight Ahead
Hayden’s treatment plan is extensive. He needs:
Advanced diagnostic imaging to understand exactly where the tumors are and how far they’ve spread
Consultations with veterinary oncology specialists who have experience treating cancer in cats
Surgery to remove or reduce the tumors where possible
Chemotherapy to target the lymphoma and prevent the cancer from spreading further
Ongoing medications to manage his symptoms, keep him comfortable, and support his immune system
Frequent follow-up appointments to monitor his progress and adjust his treatment as needed
Supportive care including special nutrition, fluids, and anything else his body needs to endure this fight
This isn’t a single vet visit. This is months of intensive medical care for a very sick kitten. The costs add up quickly—faster than any family can prepare for, especially when the diagnosis comes out of nowhere.
This Is an Urgent Emergency
We don’t have the luxury of time.
Cancer doesn’t wait. It doesn’t pause while you figure out finances. Every day that passes without treatment is a day the tumors continue to grow and the lymphoma continues to spread. Hayden’s small body is strong, but it can’t fight this alone—and it can’t fight forever.
The window for effective treatment is now. Not next month. Not when we’ve saved up enough. Now.
We are doing everything within our power, but the reality is that Hayden’s medical bills are beyond what we can afford on our own. We are asking for help because the only alternative is to watch our kitten slip away—and we are not ready to do that. He is not ready. He is still purring. He is still loving. He is still fighting.
We refuse to give up on him.
Why Hayden Deserves This Chance
If you met Hayden, you’d understand immediately. He’s not just a cat—he’s a presence. He’s the kind of cat who walks into a room and makes it warmer.
Despite everything he’s going through, Hayden remains who he’s always been: friendly, affectionate, and full of trust. He doesn’t know he’s sick. He doesn’t know that his body is waging a war on itself. He just knows that he likes being close to his people, that he likes gentle hands and soft voices, and that he feels safe when he’s loved.
He greets every day like it’s a gift. He has no idea that his days might be numbered.
We want to change that. We want to give him more days—more weeks, more months, more years. We want to see him grow into an adult cat. We want to watch him lounge in sunbeams as a lazy, healthy, spoiled boy who has no memory of this terrible time.
He deserves that chance. Every living creature who fights this hard deserves that chance.
