About this fundraiser

Asher Cruz is a 19 year old who is barely scraping by. He was diagnosed with Mobitz type 2 second degree AV block as well as having WAP (wandering atrial pacemaker). Asher's cardiologist told him he needs to get a pacemaker ASAP!

Asher is on an insurance through walmart where he works which has $7300  deductible. Pacemakers are 50,000 without insurance and Asher has only paid 300 of his deductible this year, meaning he needs $7000. He can barely afford rent and groceries and has no extra money.

What is Mobitz type 2? It's a heart rhythm disturbance causing missed and irregular heartbeats. Mobitz type 2 is a more severe type of Mobitz. Instead of a delay gradually increasing before a beat is dropped, the heart beat speeds up to high speeds and then suddenly slows down to very low speeds. This is usually caused by structural heart muscle issues.

This condition has made asher's life miserable. The symptoms he experiences with Mobitz 2 make it really difficult to function, especially needing to walk to work everyday. Here's how he describes living with it:

“I pass out a lot. I can feel my heart rate accelerate to high heaven then it shoots down to nothing. When that happens I get dizzy and lightheaded. The world spins. and if I don't sit down right as it accelerates i will pass out as soon as it suddenly slows down to nothing. My body feels so heavy and tingly. It feels like my heart is trying to rip out my chest as it speeds and when it crashes down to super slow it hits me with a train of pain. It feels wrong and weird and terrifying.”

Untreated mobitz 2 is dangerous and can be life threatening! As it progresses untreated it carries a serious risk of a complete 3rd degree heart block. This can then cause the ventricles to not contract properly with decreased blood flow with symptomatic bradycardia. It can cause fluid in the lungs. Worst case scenario it results into cardiac arrest or heart failure. A pacemaker will prevent all of this and make it so Asher can live a happier, healthier, and longer life!

Please help in any way you can! Everything helps! Share if you can't donate! Thanks so much!
