About this fundraiser

Dear Donor,

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Caleb Thomas and I'm kindly asking for your generous contribution by being a blessing to help me keep my mom in her home.

My mom, Marilyn Taylor, is living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. She was unfortunately diagnosed with this horrible disease back in 2020. For someone facing memory loss and cognitive decline, familiarity, routine, and consistency are essential. Her home is where she feels safest, most comfortable, and most at peace—and it is truly where she receives the best quality of care.

We learned this the hard way.

During her diagnosis in 2020 I had no choice but to place my mom in a nursing home temporarily. During that time, she experienced physical abuse. She ended up with a black eye and because of her issues with memory she couldn't explain what happened and unfortunately because it was the time of Covid, the nursing home was able to get away scott free with no consequences.  It was a devastating and heartbreaking experience for both of us, and it confirmed what I already knew in my heart: my mom is safest at home, surrounded by people who know her, respect her, and treat her with dignity and compassion.

Because of that experience, keeping mom at home with a trusted, consistent care team is not just a preference—it is essential for her safety, well-being, and peace of mind.

With the help of dedicated in-home caregivers, my mom receives daily assistance with personal hygiene, changing, cleaning, and overall comfort. Just as importantly, her caregivers spend quality time with her—offering patience, reassurance, companionship, and kindness. This continuity of care helps reduce confusion, anxiety, and distress that often come with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Why Help Is Needed Now

I'm very blessed to have an Amazing care team for my mom. The problem is keeping up with the cost to maintain the Dream Team as I like to call them. The cost of in-home care is significant and ongoing. Care currently averages about $142 per day, which is approximately $1,000 per week and can reach up to $5,000 per month. Right now, money is going out faster than it’s coming in for me, and I’ve reached a point where I cannot manage these expenses alone.

The need is immediate. Without financial support, it may become impossible to continue the level of care that keeps my mom safe at home—and returning her to a facility is something I am determined to avoid after what she endured.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Every dollar raised will go directly toward paying for my mom's in-home care team, including:

Daily personal care and hygiene support

Supervision and safety monitoring

Companionship and emotional support

Maintaining a consistent, familiar routine critical for Alzheimer’s and dementia care

This support allows her care to continue without interruption and ensures she remains in the environment where she thrives the most—her home.

What Your Support Means

I've been on the unfortunate side of seeing all the stages of Alzheimer's and dementia and my mom has entered the last stage, I don't know how much time she has on this earth and that's for God to decide. The only thing I do know is I need your support so she can enjoy her remaining time on this earth in her own home. Your support means so much including safety for my mom. It means dignity, comfort, and peace in a stage of life where those things matter more than ever. For me, it means relief, hope, and the ability to focus on being her son and advocate—not constantly worrying about how to cover the next bill.

Whether you are able to donate, please do share this page, and keep us in your prayers, please know how deeply grateful I am. Your kindness truly makes a difference in my mom Marilyn’s life and in mine.

Thank you in advance for your donation I realize you don't have to give anything but every dollar you give is a blessing, everyone you share this post with is a blessing in  helping me keep my mom, Marilyn Taylor, safe at home—surrounded by care, familiarity, and love.

Blessings,

Caleb Thomas
