Please help me support my baby cousin Azan, who just turned 18 and grew up alongside my daughter, Sophia.

Azan has been bravely battling sickle cell disease his entire life, but recently his health has taken a devastating turn. He is now facing multiple organ failure and has also been diagnosed with leukemia. He is currently in and out of the Children’s Hospital in New Brunswick and is preparing to begin chemotherapy.

His mother Shana,a single parent, has had to stop working to be by his side and care for him full-time. During this incredibly difficult time, I’m asking our family, friends, and community to come together to support them with basic living expenses, food, rent, and transportation between Jersey City and New Brunswick, as well as care for his younger sister, Aicha.

This is my beloved uncle Farouk’s grandson. My uncle means so much to me, he has helped provide a roof for my sister and has always looked out for her, just as he did for my late mother, Zeina. He has stepped up as both a father and grandfather figure to Azan and Aicha in his son’s absence, but there is only so much one person can carry and I’m doing my best to assist where possible. 

Let us truly rally around them as family and friends to show our love and support during this time. Easing these burdens will allow his mom to focus entirely on what matters most, being present for Azan as he fights for his life.
