  • 16 days until surgery.

Arrangements made, insurance handled, nerves on high alert. One more communication with care coordinator and surgery time set is all he needs. Jason isn't sleeping well. He gets cranky the nearer surgery date closes in. He will be glad to get the two titanium bars out of his chest that have been bugging him from the inside out. He is almost to the finish line. Thank you for helping my son.

About this fundraiser

My son Jason has to have the bars removed from his chest and for this to happen he has to travel out of state for care at the end of July. This will be his third and hopefully final surgery trip for his chest wall repair. He has attended several pre-surgery, post-surgery follow ups and regular interval check up trips. The bars that were placed to raise his chest off of his heart and lungs in 2020 and 2022 have served their purpose and now removal is required. He experienced severe complications and a septic infection after his second bar placement surgery because of this together with his surgeon it was determined that he stay near the hospital for several days after his discharge. This will insure he is near his surgeon and hospital if there are any potential repeated complications. Jason's needs have been covered to this point. Insurance will only cover one night of hotel stay for this trip. Jason will need that for the night before so we can be at the hospital first thing in the morning for his check in. No meals away from home are covered. Our vehicle is not able to make the drive at this time due to needed repairs. The funds raised would provide transportation to and from his surgery, accomodations near the hospital and food for us while we are away from home. He is on the Autism spectrum and gets horribly car sick when traveling. Travel is very tough for him and we do everything we can to make the trip a positive experience. He is looking forward to finally being done with surgeries to repair his pectus excavatum (chest wall deformity). He wants to go back to school in the fall after he is healed. Please help him get there, get this last surgery completed, stay safely nearby, and get home to finish his recovery. Any help for my son will be greatly appreciated.
