Help Jeffrey Manchester Get a Second Look

Jeffrey Manchester has been in prison since the year 2000, convicted at the age of 28 to serve a 45-year sentence for a robbery where, while no one was physically harmed, his actions still caused trauma and were classified as kidnapping. Known in headlines as the “Roofman” and the inspiration for the movie of the same name, Jeffrey was once called the “courteous robber” — taking steps to avoid harm and even calling 911 to ensure the McDonald’s employees he confined were found safely.

25 years have passed since his conviction. Jeffrey, now almost 54,  lives every day with regret — fully aware of the fear he caused, the pain he brought to innocent people, and the impact of his choices. He has spent decades reflecting, growing, and hoping for the chance of redemption.

That chance may now be possible thanks to the North Carolina House Bill 589 – the “Second Look Act”. This new law gives people like Jeffrey — who’ve served significant prison time and who can demonstrate maturity, rehabilitation, and a fitness to reenter society — the opportunity to request the court for a sentence reduction.

⚖️ But legal help isn’t free.

Funds are needed for the family to hire qualified legal representation to help prepare and present his petition for sentence modification.

Where Your Donation Goes:

✅ To retain legal representation

✅ To file a petition, obtain court transcripts, & submit documentation

✅ To obtain expert evaluations, reports, and testimony

Jeffrey isn’t asking for a free pass. He’s asking the court to assess if the interests of justice have been served. For a second look. For the chance to move forward as a changed man.

“I know my crime wasn’t victimless. I live with that. But I’ve served more time than many violent offenders. I’ve changed. I just want a second chance to do good with what time I have left.”

Please consider donating and sharing. Every contribution helps — and will give hope to someone who still believes in the chance to make better decisions and to lead a different life.

❤️ Thank you.
