About this fundraiser

Louise (retired teacher of 42 years) and Andy (John) Henn (Vietnam Veteran) have dedicated their lives to serving and supporting others and at 78 years of age, they now need some assistance & support from us. They need to make their home handicap accessible and obtain a medical sitter so that they may return to their home and rebuild their lives together after a traumatic & devastating 17 months.

Louise Henn, (high school teacher for 42 years) has overcome Breast Cancer, Multiple Falls, Broken Back, Broken Spine requiring surgery, 2 Strokes, Massive Heart Attack & a Broken Ankle ALL since Jan 2024. She is currently restarting PT to rebuild some strength and hopefully gain the ability to walk with a walker. Throughout all of this she has developed Dementia, which increases the difficulty of her recuperation. John (Andy) Henn, a Vietnam Veteran who served in Vietnam during the war and then worked hard every day until his forced retirement, is his wife, Louise’s main caregiver. While Andy manages all of Louises doctor appointments, health care routines, PT appointments and her daily living routine (dressing, preparing food, taking her to the restroom, bath, and bed), he also has his own medical needs to maintain. Andy has arthritis throughout his body, cataracts in both eyes, a degenerative eye disease, severe hearing loss, and back/joint pain and limitations. Louise cannot be left alone and cannot manage stairs, therefore they are living with Louise’s brother and his wife. Andy is attempting to make his and Louise’s home handicap accessible. This will require that he create a walk-in shower and handicap restroom on the main floor of their home, as well as build an entrance ramp into the home. He will also have to accumulate funds to pay a sitter for Louise while he attends his doctors’ appointment, which include shots in his back and 2 upcoming eye surgeries that will then prohibit him from being able to lift or physically assist Louise during his recovery periods. These collected funds will assist him in paying for the development of the main floor restroom, entrance way ramp, handicap supportive furniture and accessories as well as a medical sitter on a required basis.
