On April 12th 2023. My Father, Rodney Keith Reynolds was admitted to the hospital. After several tests and 2 major seizures it was determined he had HSV1 And An infection that eats the brain. He was transported to Kennestone hospital in Marietta Georgia where he was in a medically induced coma for a week. When they brought him out of the coma he had significant brain damage. He stayed there for 2 more weeks and was transported via ambulance to rehabilitation in Tallahassee Florida. Where we live. With hopes that the damage would heal, my family got him through this stage and now he is at home with my mother. His brain is not showing signs of improvement. Mom has a pile of hospital bills and a 10,000$ ambulance ride bill. The days have been very hard and we have to provide mom a break when we can. She is also still working a full time job and dad was almost retired so he draws no SS. In this process he’s been determined to be epileptic, and have severe personality changes, also is on a ton of medication and still having seizures, he doesn’t know where he is at. Ever. One day it got so bad the law had to get involved because he was stepping out in front of cars on a main road, the State of Florida seized his rights for 72 hours in a physciatric holding facility at TMH hospital June 30th that’s on record. It has since been the same thing everyday and my mom can’t do it on her own while working full time. Dad will have to find long term care , while insurance covers a portion of the hospital bills, they will not cover long term care. At 5000$ plus a month for this care. We don’t really know what we are going to do. We do know we have to make sure he is taken care of. As he did for us. Any donations to dad to get the care he needs and give mom a hand with the several thousands in medical bills would be extremely helpful and we’ll appreciated. He had a large impact on a lot of peoples lives and he needs more help than me or my family can provide.  Thanks to donors in advance.
