  • Happy Halloween!

Hello Helping Hands Friends & Family!

It’s that wonderful time of the year (no, I am not talking about election time), it’s Halloween time! Many of us fully enjoy this day, and if you are one, you are in very good company, because Linda and Alan are in that category too. My husband and I have had a tradition of pumpkin carving with Linda & Alan, over the last many years.

The de Velascos also do lots of decorating inside and outside of the house. Mums, pumpkins, and Alan’s creation in the front yard: a skeleton scene, including a skeleton doctor assisting a skeleton birth, with a skeleton parent sitting nearby, comfortably in a chair, smoking a cigar. It’s very funny, and causes some questions from those passing by.

It was wonderful to be able to share some new memories and have some Halloween normalcy with Linda & Alan (and Teddy, yes always Teddy). I’m glad to be able to share some good news with you all, but also want you to know that the chemo treatments continue for Linda every 3 weeks, and no change to that in sight.

Keep good thoughts for the family, thank you for all you have done for them, and thank you for being good, kind and caring people.

    Happy Halloween!

About this fundraiser

My beautiful friend of over 40 years needs our help!  She has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Those closest to her, are in such disbelief of how this could have gone undetected and progressed to this stage, so swiftly.  Linda is a hairstylist, and anyone familiar with the business knows that if you are not working, you are not making money.  This means all financial responsibilities, now fall to her attentive & compassionate husband.

Alan, who has always been a one man show at work (he is the sole proprietor of Bodywork Therapy), is now doing his best to keep Linda's doctors’ appointments, medication, meals, a roof over their heads, and Teddy (their beloved dog) comfortable and fed.  Again, if Alan is missing work, Alan does not get paid.

Medical bills have already started to pile up; Linda is currently getting chemotherapy, and will also begin radiation treatments, as well.  As you can imagine, and maybe some of you know first-hand, this burden is too much for any couple to bear alone.

Whatever you can do to assist financially is so important and so appreciated by all of us who know and love Linda, Alan, and of course Teddy..
