The past couple of months have been quite a whirlwind and a roller-coaster ride. In late July, a mass was found on Lodine's pancreas that was soon confirmed to be cancerous. After many follow-up appointments in Kalispell and second opinions in Seattle, the recommended course of action in both places was to begin chemotherapy, which commenced September 13 in Kalispell.
Unfortunately, the cancer has progressed much faster than expected. After two chemo treatments and multiple complications, Lodine's doctors and surgeon have come to the conclusion that there is nothing more to be done medically to improve her health outcome. After in-depth discussions with the doctors, Lodine and Cecil have decided to transition to home hospice care. Her medical team has successfully accomplished several procedures this week (September 25–28) to relieve some of her physical discomfort and is actively working on her pain management.
Over the past two months, medical expenses have accumulated quickly. Consequently, Lodine's family has set up this fundraiser as a way to offset some of these costs, which resulted from both scheduled and unscheduled appointments, chemotherapy treatments, supplies, equipment, and travel to and from Seattle. With hospitalization and subsequent transition to hospice care this week, further expenses will be forthcoming. Lodine's husband, Cecil, is the beneficiary of the funds raised through this fundraiser. He will receive these funds through a dedicated account as they are given and will use them to pay the mounting medical bills.
The Pratt and Haynes families are very grateful for any gifts that you are able to donate. They will help to ease the already heavy load that is being carried by Cecil and the rest of the family during this difficult time.
Lodine's family, both immediate and extended, are heartbroken at the suddenness of the news and the pace at which this terrible disease has progressed in her body. We are so grateful for the love and support that Lodine and Cecil have received through the kind words, prayers, messages, and presence of her family and friends during this time.
Future updates on Lodine's condition can be found on their Caring Bridge site and on Cecil's FaceBook page. Thank you very much for visiting this site and considering how you can help these fine people who have given so much to their community over the decades.
Lodine and Cecil have held closely to Christ during this journey and have found comfort in this passage from Proverbs 3:5–6.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take."
