My name is Kelly Sokol. I am fundraising for my niece, Lucie Dolenc, and her family. Late at night on 12/2, Lucie was driving on the Diagonal Hwy., near Niwot, taking a friend home to Boulder after volunteering that day for Operation Christmas Child. They were hit by a driver that failed to stop at a stop sign on a road that intersects the highway. Lucie and her dear friend were taken by ambulance to a Boulder Hospital. Lucie had a major surgery on 12/5 to repair fractures in her pelvic area and wrist. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her, both physically and emotionally. As anyone who has been through a traumatic accident can tell you, receiving money in any type of settlement to pay for medical expenses can take years. In the meantime, there will be durable medical equipment needed for their home, therapy appointments, trauma counseling, and large hospital bills.
