My dad, Marshall Tomlinson, had a heart attack on June 17, 2025. This caused severe heart damage and his heart was only functioning at 20%. He spent 5 days in the hospital and met with a top cardiovascular surgeon and a heart failure specialist. They were unsure of the best path for his case. They worked together to stabilize him with medication while researching the best course of action to save his heart and repair at least one of his four blockages. 
 

On July 11, 2025, he started having severe pain in his arm and chest and was rushed to the hospital. His heart function had decreased to 15% and his condition was considered unstable. 
 

He had double bypass surgery on July 15, 2025. The surgery was successful, but he has a long recovery ahead of him. Debra, my mom and his wife of 39 years, is going to be on FMLA. However, this time off will be unpaid. She will be taking care of him at home once he is released and taking him to his follow-up visits and his cardiovascular rehabilitation. They have a few hard weeks ahead. 
 

The medical bills are starting to roll in along with normal monthly bills. Without mom’s income, they are going to be stuck in a hard place.
