A few month ago, I received news no mother ever expects: I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, an aggressive form of cancer that has already begun to spread. Overnight, my world changed. I went from being a hardworking, independent single mother of two beautiful boys… to a patient fighting for her life. Because of the rapid progression of this illness, I am now unable to work. I face a long, painful, and expensive road ahead — major surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, countless hospital visits, and all the heavy emotional weight that comes with such a diagnosis.
