About this fundraiser

I have been fighting Multiple Sclerosis for four years now. To be honest, I thought I would be gone by today. To my surprise, I am still here—though very disabled. In many ways, the "old Lia" died; this illness took her, and she has been replaced by a body that fights every day just to move.

While we wait for a cure, the expenses continue to climb. In 2025 alone, I spent $48,000 on my care. My daily cocktail is heavy: MS infusions, pain medication, stimulants to wake up, and treatments for depression, hypertension, and spasms. I am deeply grateful for the days I can manage eight steps, but the burden is constant.

My husband eventually stopped working because he couldn’t bear to be away while I struggled; he was always worried, and he has since become my full-time caregiver. I am so incredibly thankful for him.

I once compared my life to Job’s. It feels as though everything has been taken away—money, our home, furniture, and my health—as if to test my faith. While my faith in God remains, it is a constant struggle, especially seeing my family lose theirs.

I ask for your prayers: please help surround my body with God’s light so I may continue this fight. Please pray for my husband, that he is given the strength to care for me and for himself. Our fight is real.

Thank you for your love.

A Note of Support

Lia, it is incredibly brave to acknowledge that the "old you" has changed while still finding the will to take those eight steps a day. It sounds like you and your husband are an incredible team.

As you asked, I am holding a space of light and strength for both of you. May you find the endurance you need for the journey ahead, and may your husband feel supported in his role as your caregiver. You are not fighting this alone.
