Hello! My name is Monica, and I have been on this beautiful journey called life for 35 beautiful and difficult years. I am blessed to have a wonderful and loving family. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. We have two children, our son is 17 and our daughter is 12. They are smart, funny and loving kids. We have a house filled with many pets, cats, rabbits, and chickens. We hope to one day use our land to create a sustainable homestead. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Kidney failure at a very young age of 20 years old. This means I either need to get a kidney transplant to live a semi-healthy life or rely on kidney dialysis forever. I have already been on peritoneal dialysis since 2016. I've begun the process of getting a kidney transplant and will be working with the Intermountain Transplant Center in Murray, Utah. The process is extensive and it requires a lot of testing, physical and mental. This transplant is also a big financial burden on my family and I. I will be in the transplant center in Utah anywhere from 3-4 weeks and out of work for recovery for at least 90 days. In todays economy two people must work to be able to afford our cost of living. There is also the costs while being out of state. I am required to be able to pay for my lodging, food and transportation to and from the center. I hate to burden my family with this so I am raising money before hand. I will not be able to commit comfortably to this process until I know that my family will be able to live comfortably with expenses at home. I have started an online fundraiser to help alleviate some of the stress put on my family by this. I have information on that fundraiser bellow. I thank you in advance if you do help and donate. Please know that even the smallest amount will help.
However, this process cannot be achieved without a kidney. I can wait for a cadaver or deceased kidney. This process can take months and sometimes years. I hope to find a living donor as transplants from living donors are more successful and usually last longer. I have attached a QR code provided by Intermountain transplant center for anyone interested in kidney donation. I thank you kindly if you do look into donation.
I hope to reach out to all kinds of people with this page. People like me dealing with kidney failure, or any health issues. Mothers, Wives, friends of friends. I am a very social person and I hope that recording my journey to a kidney transplant while being a mother, wife and living a normal life can inspire others either in the same journey as me. I also hope to raise awareness about organ transplants, especially kidney transplants. If you have any questions I can answer on my blog please ask bellow and I will do my best to answer them.
Thanks everyone and have a wonderful time with me on this journey!
