Hello,
I have worked as a cook in a nursing home for 3 years. I recently took over the job of managing the kitchen. I am passionate about giving the residents good food.
After taking over the management position I quickly realized how little money some nursing homes give you to run the kitchen. I have a difficult time even getting the basics for the residents.
A lot of these people are abandoned here and one of the only things they have to look forward to is the food. All of our residents are at the end of their lives. They all have lived their entire lives paying taxes, taking care of their families, and have had careers. I feel bad on a daily basis that this business is more about making money than it is about taking care of people. I do my absolute best every day to try and provide them with good dignified meals but I come up short a lot of the time because I just don't have the money.
I am asking for help to get some better equipment in the kitchen. I have spend a lot of my own money trying to get better food for them and will continue to do so. A lot of out equipment is extremly outdate and old so it is hard to provide consistantly good meals for them. I ask the company for help but they are not interested as they would rather make money than take care of these people.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and go towards taking care of a forgotten population.
