My name is Maja (Maya). I’m a single momma to two perfect little boys. My 6 year old is in JCPS (I know, right) and my 4 year old firecracker stays home. I work 12 hour (night) shifts at a local hospital and have been in Real Estate for 6 years. Things were going as good as one could hope until about two months ago. 

On 6/21 I was involved in a car wreck which left me with a broken sternum. Six days later I ended up having a seizure while driving. Luckily I had angels watching over my babies and me as we walked away with only minor injuries. My drs took me off work so my sternum could heal and so that we could figure out what’s going on with my brain. Eager and excited to get back in the swing of things, I returned to work on 8/8.

On 8/14 I had an EEG scheduled. I was beyond excited! Hopeful that it would come back normal and the drs would clear me to drive, I went in and knocked it out like a champ! (An electroencephalogram is a test that measures electrical activity in the brain. This test also is called an EEG. The test uses small, metal discs called electrodes that attach to the scalp. Brain cells communicate via electrical impulses, and this activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording.).

            On that same day I was diagnosed with epilepsy. This has shattered my whole entire world.
 

The drs started me on anti-seizure meds right away. As you can imagine I’m no longer able to drive which means I will no longer be able to do Real Estate. At this point I’ve gone months without pay and my full time job barely covers my mortgage let alone anything else. I’m not a special person. I don’t deserve more or less than the person next to me and I have never, in my life, asked for this kind of help. Normally I’m the person helping others  (it’s my love language and I won’t do life without giving to anyone in need). NOW- I’m the person in need and I’m asking for YOUR help.
