  • Update

Owen has had his halo off for almost a month now, it has been a difficult adjustment but Owen is doing extremely well. The next 3 months are very important keeping Owen’s activity’s very limited, and strengthening the neck muscles to hold his head on his own and slowly regain mobility turning his head.
Owen’s journey is not over, but we are making progress and continuing to have faith and remembering how far we have come, not just how far we have to go.
No one will ever fully be able to understand the internal battles Owen had to endure just to heal, just to grow, just to make it here today. We are so proud of the way he fought to save himself. It's possible not just to survive, but to thrive, and never let anything stop you from living the life god intended for you, and Owen shows us that everyday.
One day Owen will be able to tell his story of what he went through and will be someone else’s survivor guide.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s support, love, and prayers during Owen’s journey. Your kindness and generosity made a difficult time a little easier.
We will continue to update as Owen’s journey continues.
    God bless,
    -Owen and Family.

About this fundraiser

At a 1 ½ years old, Owen, was diagnosed with an Ependymoma cancerous brain tumor.  Owen is now 4 years old and cancer free, and So full of life and joy, he shows us what unbelievable strength he has and is a true warrior! Owen has been through so much at such a young age but keeps a smile on his face and everyone around him.  He is such an amazing big brother!

But his fight is not over yet.
After 6 weeks of radiation treatment and 4 rounds of chemotherapy, Owen will be having a spinal neck fusion on July 24th at Mayo Clinic. He will have 3 different procedures, first they will go in through the front of his neck for the spinal neck fusion and place rib bone grafting to straighten the vertebrae in his neck from where the tumor was removed, then he will be placed in a halo traction neck brace, 3 weeks later they will complete the spinal neck fusion in the back of Owen’s neck with more rib bone grafting. Owen will stay in the halo traction neck brace for 3 months following the procedures before removal of the halo traction neck brace.  He will need physical therapy, and speech therapy after surgery.
We are asking for help with hotel cost, bills, and meals. We currently live 106 miles from Mayo Clinic and traveling that far in Owen’s traction Halo neck brace is not ideal or very safe, so staying in Rochester for the 3 months while Owen is in the halo traction brace would be best for him. We also have a 2 year old daughter, Maya, and keeping our family together through this very difficult time is our goal. Any help and prayers for Owen and our family is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to hear Owen’s story.
Godbless.

Sincerely,

Owen and Family.
