My dear friend Jodi, whom I’ve known for over 15 years, is facing an unimaginable challenge. She recently had to step in to raise her 2-year-old granddaughter after the sudden passing of the little girl’s mother. Jodi immediately flew to Minneapolis, Minnesota to bring her granddaughter home—paying out of pocket for an emergency flight, hotel, and rental car. Now, as a single mom already raising her sons, she’s facing many unexpected expenses while trying to provide a stable, loving home for her granddaughter. Over the past 10 years, Jodi has endured more heartbreak than anyone should—losing her mother, sister, boyfriend, and now her first grandbaby’s mother.
