About this fundraiser

My name is Sandi Adams. I am 52 years old. I developed Cerebral Palsy at birth due to the negligence of the doctor who deIivered me. I have been married to an amazing able bodied man for 29 years! I gave birth to all 4 of our babies with no epidurals. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2025. We tried to find treatment close to home to keep a sense of normalcy and to, hopefully, make it more affordable. However, we weren't treated well and decided that travelling back and forth to Seattle to be treated by the amazing people there is our best option. They have been incredible. Seattle is a 3 to 4 hour drive for us. We can get help with gas and lodging, but, it is hit and miss, because they need at least 5 days and a note from my doctor. Sometimes we only have less than 24 hours notice. We also have to buy food while we are there.

I am really bad about asking for financial help.I have made some wish lists for things doctors and other cancer survivors have recommended. My 4 adult kids live with us. Our oldest son (27) works at McDonald's and helps when he can, Our 25 year old son is in welding school 4 days a week. Our 22 year old son starts medical assistant school next summer, so he's been going back and forth to Seattle with us to be an extra set of hands. Our 19 year old daughter is a senior in high school.

Friends and family have asked me to set up a donation page. I have been going back and forth, My husband, Larry, hasn't been working because I have had several back surgeries, and he's been my full time care giver. In May, I had a surgery on my neck for a compressed spinal cord. We were told that was the last surgery they could do. I was finally getting back on my feet, literally! So, Larry was starting to look for work! Then we got my breast cancer diagnosis.

None of this has been easy. I have a trip to Seattle coming up next week on November 11, 2025 when they are going to place markers, so the surgeon can find the tumor easily. Then I go in on November 26, the day before Thanksgiving, for my surgery (Lumpectomy, Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy and a breast reconstruction and lift). Due to my disability and the challenges I have moving around, everybody decided that it is best if I stay in Seattle until Friday after surgery. I won't be able to use my arms to assist in transfers in and out of the car, in and out of bed, off and on the toilet, etc. So Larry and I will be spending that time testing out what works and what doesn't.

Thank you in advance for any help you may give! My family and I appreciate it more than you know!
