Help Erica and Her Family Keep Their Home
Hi, my name is Erica, and I’m a hardworking mom of four wonderful children. Two of my kids live here with me, and I’m the only one in our home working to keep us going.
For a while, things were steady — until life started throwing one challenge after another. Between job losses, health struggles, and unexpected expenses, we’ve fallen behind on our bills. My health has been unpredictable, and it’s made it harder to stay on top of everything.
My husband has also had a hard time finding steady work. He’s lived with a fourth-degree burn injury since he was a child — something that’s affected his health and made certain jobs difficult for him ever since. It’s been a lifelong struggle that he still pushes through every single day.
We live off-grid, using a generator for electricity and a water tank for our water. Living in the city or county limits just isn’t an option — the rent and childcare costs are simply too high. We’ve worked hard to make this little cabin our home, but it hasn’t been easy. When we moved in, we discovered several issues that the owners took forever to fix, and some of our belongings were damaged in the process.
Then, just a few days ago, my husband was driving home from a side job when a pack of deer ran across the highway. He hit them, and now our vehicle is out of commission — another setback we just couldn’t afford.
Now, we’ve been told we must become current by the 15th of this month or we’ll lose our home. I’ve called every local resource I can find, but there’s been no help available.
This cabin is all we have left — it’s where my kids feel safe and where we’ve built our life together. I’m doing everything I can to keep us afloat, but right now, I can’t do it alone.
I’m asking for help to:
Catch up on housing costs so we don’t lose our home
Repair our vehicle so I can keep working and caring for my kids
Cover basic essentials and utilities while we get back on our feet
