As many of you know, our beloved Joe Coots passed away this week, leaving our Starlight family and theatre communities across the country heartbroken. Joe had a gift for making everyone feel loved—offering advice, kindness, a listening ear, and, of course, plenty of laughter ( the list goes on).
From his early days at Starlight to touring the country in Kinky Boots and The Full Monty, and his many appearances on television, Joe made a lasting impact on everyone he met. The outpouring of love on his Facebook page is a testament to the lives he touched.
To honor his memory, our family—along with so many in the Starlight community—would love to create a permanent tribute to Joe Coots at Starlight Theatre, a place that meant so much to him. Our goal is to name a star in his honor on the beautiful constellation wall. This tribute costs $5,000, and we hope to come together to make it a reality.
If you feel moved to contribute, donations can be made via this website or by mailing a check to Marissa Webb Tonkovic please email her at marissa@marissakwebb.com for that address.. Any additional funds raised beyond the $5,000 will be given to Joe’s family directly to assist with any remaining expenses.
Joe’s warmth, kindness, and smile will never be forgotten. This is one way we can ensure his light continues to shine.

1mo agoI never had the opportunity to know Joe because he was already in NYC when I joined the Starlight family. In 2020, when Starlight went remote for the summer due to Covid, he was interviewed and he seemed like a really cool guy. RIP, Joe
