I am writing this for my mother who was just diagnosed a month ago with a rare form of cancer called Myxofibrosarcoma.
One Month ago today, my life changed when I was diagnosed with myxofibrosarcoma, a very rare cancer that affects the soft tissue and muscles in the body. This diagnosis was a shock, especially since this type of cancer is so uncommon—less than 1% of the population with cancer faces this, and the specific type I have is even rarer. I had taken early retirement last year, hoping to enjoy a new chapter, and started working a part-time job in February to help make ends meet. Now, with this diagnosis, I am unable to work and am facing a lot of uncertainty about the future.
My treatment will take place at the IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis, which means frequent travel and overnight stays far from home. The costs of travel, hotel stays, and daily living expenses are adding up quickly, and it’s overwhelming to think about how I’ll manage it all while focusing on my health. I never imagined I would be in a position to ask for help, but right now, I truly need the support of my community.
If you can find it in your heart to help, your generosity will go directly toward my travel, hotel, and living expenses while I undergo treatment. I am deeply grateful for any support you can give, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with me during this difficult time.
