  • Edna Smith's Fight with Leukemia

First of all, we would like to Thank all of you for your support and generous donations for Edna's recovery during this difficult journey. She has successfully undergone the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and is now on her long road to recovery. She spent a month at the hospital and was recently released home and remains in isolation. She travels to the BMT Center three time a week to monitor her progress. As much as Edna loves the outdoors, she will not be able to enjoy the Texas sun for a year, restricted and in isolation to protect her from any infection until she builds up a resistance.

With a restrictive diet, she is starting to build an appetite for the TexMex comfort food and Texas Barbecue that she loves so much. With Edna's motto " I live to eat ...and eat to live", I know that she will be back to eating her favorite food soon.

This is a long fight as we all know and I assure you that she is giving it her all.

Thank You Again for your support, donations and prayers!

    Diane

About this fundraiser

Edna Smith:  Together We Can Fight Leukemia

Edna is one of those special people who has given all her life to those in need and put her interests second after family, friends and her community.  Edna is the first one to show up when you need her and to contribute whatever she can if you need her. She is an independent and resourceful entrepreneur who, even when spread thin, has provided for the needs of her family and so many others.

Unfortunately, she has experienced a devastating turn in her life.  Edna was diagnosed with Leukemia and is gearing up for the fight of her life. She will be undergoing a potentially life saving bone marrow transplant. The medical expenses over these past months have been mounting with tests, medications and the upcoming expenses of surgery and a month long extended hospital stay. Edna will be in ICU for 30 days and at home for over 3 months , secluded because of the considerable risks associated with her surgery and will not be able to work during this time.

Edna’s Friends and Family are working to raise $14,600 to help her offset some of these expenses and allow her to recover with peace of mind during this important time for healing.

We appreciate anything you can give to assist us in this effort and ask that you keep her in your prayers!  .
