About this fundraiser

Now, Tina a Hospice R.N. who often travels for work needs attention and if possible, support.

Few people, regardless of salary can absorb the cost of the total loss of  income sustained over a period of a year or more.

Although Tina's loss of employment function has only occurred over the last five months as a CABG patient and then almost a month later a heart transplant. The cost of a heart transplant is staggering, often well over a million dollars.

None of these costs account for hidden financial burdens. Particularly for patients not local to sites of their procedures and follow-up for care.

Tina had little choice to renting an apartment was not conducive to the constant care needs as a post tranplant patient.

On balance, funds are not only disbursed from Tina’s shrinking life savings, other monies are deflected away that might shore her financially.

Tina does not directly incur this cost of transportation, nourishment and lodging for family, however the now thousands of dollars spent by family are dollars that aren't available for the exorbitant cost of medication, medical equipment and personnel.

Tina's journey has included a series over the last few months of take offs and landings and failed attempts at both. The grueling recovery of CABG, the uncertainty of finding a heart donor and the surgery itself. The loss of identity as a vibrant, independent,  self sufficient adventurer. These have been stressful enough without the added burden of financial stress.

Tina has spent her life reducing financial stress for others. Although she does not head a formal organization,  Tina has lessened the burden for those in her path feeling the strains of lif
