About this fundraiser

Torry is 34 years old and has faced more adversity in her life than most will in a lifetime. She still finds ways to smile, work hard and give back to others. She is always one of the first people to jump in to help raise money, make sure others have what they need and help strangers in their time of need. She has never been one to ask for help for herself; but for about 4 years now she has been going through an unexpected and complex medical journey and could use all the well wishes and funds for treatment that we are able to rally for her.

Everything medically started about 4 years ago and she has had a myriad of mysterious illnesses since; Torry has been diagnosed with Diabetes and bone infections requiring toe amputation despite her Diabetes being well controlled; an auto-immune disorder called Lupus; a serious infection in her eye causing sudden vision loss, a tumor, and now new concerns of a potential issue with her lymph nodes. Most of this has been in the past few months. Torry has seen multiple teams of specialists and has been through infusions for Lupus, expensive injections and laser treatments for her eye; surgeries, ICU stays and stints in a nursing home for rehab services when she was recovering from surgeries.

Unfortunately, Torry has no answers to what is causing all of these issues and her last hope is to travel to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota where she has been referred to by her doctors. Mayo accepted her case and agreed to help with the diagnosis and treatment journey, but required $5,000 upfront, with an additional $5,000 due after the visit—none of which was covered by her insurance. The expected cost for Mayo was a huge burden, but Torry was able to make it possible with the support of family and friends. Travel plans were made; however, just days before leaving, the providers reviewing her medical records recommended that an additional test be completed before she traveled. The options given were to have the test done at Mayo for an additional $6,000, or to wait and complete it in her home state through insurance—but that would mean waiting at least a month, delaying her treatments even further.  Torry is exhausted from this journey; but we all want her to get the best care possible, and hopefully answers and treatment plan to help her return to health! We are asking for her family, friends and community on Torry’s behalf to give whatever you are able to help alleviate her burden and show up the way she shows up for her whole community. Please share this, donate or reach out to her. Anything will help Torry with the medical expenses so she can heal.

Your support is very much appreciated <3
