  • Update - 6/25/25

The coils were unable to be placed, again because of the location. So our only path forward is radiation and maybe chemo. The hospital we were at doesn't offer inpatient radiation so he was transferred to another one less than a mile away yesterday. So far he is doing well, still sedated but one chest tube has been removed and hopefully radiation will start today. Radiation should shrink the tumors and open up the airway so he can get off the vent. I'll update again in a few days.

About this fundraiser

Memorial Day weekend Travis had a cough that was diagnosed as bronchitis. After 2 weeks and numerous antibiotics, steroids and inhalers he still wasn't getting any better. A trip to the ER and a CT Scan later we were told he had aspirated something and it had lodged in his airway. After a scope and biopsy we found out it was a tumor so surgery was scheduled to remove the middle and lower lobe of his right lung. We didn't get good news. They went in to do surgery, found another bigger tumor next to his diaphragm. It was too dangerous to remove because of the location. They seen the second mass and several enlarged lymph nodes so the surgeon just back out. Going forward with even removing the entire lung would cause more harm than good. So they closed him back up and he is having more scans today to check for any other issues. He will be having coils placed to stop the internal bleeding in his lungs that is causing the cough but he will still have the shortness of breath. He will be starting radiation and chemo soon for 6weeks. The surgeon said the cancer is very aggressive (there was nothing on X-rays and an ultrasound from April 2024) but this type of cancer responds very well to chemo and radiation.
