Hello, my name is Dasha and I have several debilitating conditions. My worst one is POTS, but I also have EDS, muscle atrophy, autonomic dysfunction, and kidney cancer. This isn’t a complete list of my medical issues, but it gives you a basic idea of my current struggles.  I’ve been advised by my medical team to crowdsource my medical equipment. I am currently keeping my fingers crossed for insurance to at least cover my electric wheelchair that I badly need. But if it’s denied, some of this crowdsourcing will have to cover the wheelchair as well, and I don’t currently have a quote for it. All I know is that it’s going to be very expensive. The wheelchair that’s been prescribed is going to be quite heavy and not foldable, so if I intend to get around outside the home — like to go to my medical appointments, I‘ll need a van with a ramp. These tend to run about $100,000 give or take. I’ll also need to install a proper ramp into my home and a chair lift. I believe the ramp was quoted at $5,000 and the stair lift was quoted at $2,000. I got these quotes last year, so those may have gone up as well.
