Zak was hospitalized over Mother’s Day  2025 weekend with a mass the size of a grapefruit in his chest. Mediastinal Diffuse B-Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. 

Initial treatment was DA-EPOCH-R. Zak‘s chemo did not respond to this chemotherapy regimine. 
 

In September, 2025 Zak‘s oncologist recommended he have CAR-T therapy with bridge chemo+immunotherapy every three weeks until getting his T-cells back. 
 

Zak’s most recent PET scan shows that he did not respond to the chemo portion of the treatment but his oncologist felt the immunotherapy portion had helped some. 
 

on December 3rd, Zak will be admitted to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for three days of lymphodepleting chemotherapy in preparation for getting his T-Cells back on December 8th. 
 

We have been very fortunate that the costs for medication and treatment have mostly  been covered to date. However, the costs for transportation and lodging are becoming overwhelming. 

I will be staying near the hospital while Zak is admitted. After he is released from the hospital there are frequent (three times a week) follow-up appointments that will scale down.  Zak will need 24-hour caretaking after he is out of the hospital for 2 months.
