  • Nephrectomy Scheduled

Billy has finally been cleared for surgery. He will be having a Nephrectomy. It is scheduled for Thursday the 20th. The surgeon hopes to remove the tumor and reconstruct the kidney via laproscopic with robotic assist. There are 2 back up plans. If the tumor has grown too much and cannot be removed laproscopic, it will change to a radical surgery. Meaning a larger incision. And if he can't remove the tumor or reconstruct the kidney, the kidney will be fully removed.

We got surgery scheduled and pre-registration done on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he got a layoff notice. His job will be terminated March 7th. The company has closed his entire work area, and did a mass layoff. So we will lose the short term disability and health insurance on the 7th. I'm not sure of the future at this time.

I thank each one of you for every donation and every prayer. It really means so much to our little family. We couldn't have made it this far without your help. Even with insurance, a cancer battle is incredibly expensive. What a world we live in that lack of money equates to lack of Healthcare.

We have asked for Loss Mitigation to do a forbearance, from our Mortgage company. We are still waiting to hear, but do not have high hopes of approval. The fundraiser thus far, has only covered medical expenses. Living expenses and bills have been put behind the medical costs, as Billy is most important!!

Please keep us in your prayers. And if you can donate, we are greatful!! Anything helps, and nothing is too small. We love you and God Bless!!

About this fundraiser

Hi all!l and Merry Christmas!

Billy started getting sick with what seemed to be a cold back in the end of October. He went to the Doctor many times, and he just seemed to get sicker. So when lung x-rays showed nothing, they did a CT scan. The CT found a mass on/in his left kidney. More testing and MRIs showed Renal Cell Carcinoma. Our primary Dr took this seriously and was able to get him scheduled with Urology and Oncology. Prognosis at this time is unknown. We are hopeful for the best case scenario, that the tumor can be removed. We won't know for a few more weeks.

Billy is the primary source of income for our family and has been on medical leave since November 5th, 2024. It was our understanding that his company would provide short term disability. With that, we would be ok. However, we just learned that is not the case until FMLA runs out. FMLA is 12 weeks and is unpaid. It is unclear how long his Dr's will have him on medical leave as they fear an injury or stress on the tumor. It is located on the back side of his kidney. It does protrude, causing a visible lump on his back, and the kidney is grossly inflamed.

We hate to ask anyone for help, but we have no other alternatives.  Who do you turn to in times of desperat  need? The copays for all of the Drs will need to be paid to be seen, plus the copays for surgery when that comes. The mortgage is due for November and December. Utilities, insurance and groceries still need to be covered. We already sold a vehicle and personal items to cover some expenses and Dr bills. There isn't anything left to sell.

Anything at this point helps. Please share this fundraiser in hopes that we can raise more money. We thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for any help at this time. Bless you, and Merry Christmas!
