Asking for help is not easy for me. I’ve been a teacher for 20 years and volunteered in my community for 25. My health has forced me to stop working and give up volunteering—a huge part of my identity. I have ongoing medical care, thousands in medical bills, and multiple future surgeries. I’m waiting for disability benefits and hope to raise $20,000 to help my family through this. I’ve spent years showing up for others.
