In Loving Memory of Jamie Meyer ❤️ Help His Family Through This Tragic Loss

On October 29, 2026, our family suffered a loss that words can never fully describe. My beloved husband, Jamie Meyer, passed away at just 45 years old after a courageous fight against severe viral and bacterial pneumonia and its devastating complications.

Jamie was so much more than a husband. He was a protector, a provider, a friend, and a man whose heart was filled with more love and compassion than words can express. With a background in security, protecting others was part of who he was. He had a heart of gold and a willingness to care for others that was truly unlike anything I have ever known.

Jamie leaves behind his wife, his biological son, three adopted daughters, four stepchildren, and eight grandchildren. He was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a family who loves him beyond measure and who must now face a future without him.

**A FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE**

Jamie's journey began on Sunday, October 11, when he was taken to the emergency room at EGH. His kidneys were failing, his heart was in atrial fibrillation, and his blood pressure was dangerously low. His condition quickly worsened, and on October 12, he became septic and was placed on life support before being airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital.

For nine long days, Jamie remained on life support as he fought for his life. We prayed, held on to hope, and waited for the miracle we desperately wanted.

On October 20, Jamie was taken off the ventilator, and we began to see major improvements. After everything he had endured, we finally felt that he might be turning a corner.

On October 26, he was discharged from IU Methodist Hospital and transferred to Northern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital to begin therapy and continue his recovery. We believed he was moving in the right direction and looked forward to the possibility of having more time with him.

Then, on October 28, I received a call that his blood pressure had dropped and he had become unresponsive. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for evaluation and discharged later that afternoon.

The next day, October 29, I received another call that changed our lives forever. Jamie had suffered cardiac arrest. Despite lifesaving efforts, he could not be revived, and he was pronounced deceased.

After everything he had survived, after seeing him improve and believing he was recovering, we never imagined we would lose him so suddenly.

Our hearts are broken. We are still trying to comprehend how someone we love so deeply could be here one moment and gone the next.

**WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP**

Losing Jamie has left our family facing not only unimaginable grief but also unexpected financial hardship.

We are asking for help with the expenses that come with his passing, including funeral and burial or cremation costs, a memorial service, medical bills related to his hospitalization, household expenses, lost income, and the ongoing costs of supporting our children and maintaining our home.

These are expenses no family is ever truly prepared for, especially when a loved one becomes critically ill so suddenly and passes away before anyone has had the chance to prepare for the possibility of losing them.

As his wife, I am trying to navigate the heartbreak of losing my husband while also figuring out how to manage the financial responsibilities that remain. Our children and grandchildren are grieving, too, and we are all trying to find our way through a loss that has changed our lives forever.

Asking for help is not easy, but right now, any support would mean more to our family than we can adequately express.

**HOW YOU CAN HELP**

If you are able to donate, every contribution will help ease the financial burden our family is facing during this heartbreaking time. No amount is too small, and every dollar will be appreciated more than you know.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community. Every share helps us reach people who may be able to help.

Most importantly, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we learn how to live without the man who meant the world to us.

Jamie spent his life protecting others and showing compassion to the people around him. Now, we are reaching out to our community for some of that same kindness and compassion as we face the hardest chapter of our lives.

We wish we could have had more time with him. We wish the outcome had been different. And we wish we didn't have to say goodbye so soon.

But we will forever be grateful for the love he gave us, the lives he touched, and the memories we will carry in our hearts.

Jamie, you were loved more than you ever could have imagined. Your family will carry your love with us always, and your legacy of kindness, compassion, and protection will never be forgotten.

**Forever our protector. Forever our love. Forever in our hearts.**

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us honor Jamie's memory and support the family he leaves behind. ❤️
