My name is Ashley, and I’m asking for help for my husband, Chris, and our family during one of the most difficult times we have ever faced.

Eleven days ago, Chris was involved in a devastating car accident that completely changed our lives. He has been hospitalized ever since and has already undergone several surgeries. He suffered a broken arm and a broken leg, and his leg will require several more surgeries as he continues his long road to recovery.

Right now, there are so many unknowns. We don’t know exactly how long Chris will be in the hospital, what his recovery will look like, or when he’ll be able to come home. We also don’t know when—or if—he will be able to return to work. Those questions are incredibly difficult to carry while trying to keep everything else going.

This was an unavoidable accident caused by the negligence of another driver. Unfortunately, that driver only carries the state-minimum insurance coverage, leaving Chris and our family facing an unimaginable situation with little to no compensation available to help with what lies ahead.

Chris was between jobs when the accident happened, which meant he did not have medical insurance coverage. While we have not even received the medical bills yet, we know the cost of his hospitalization, multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, and continued treatment is going to be exponentially overwhelming and could ultimately exceed $1 million.

I am working and doing everything I can to keep our family going. We have two boys, ages 14 and 17, and while they understand why their dad isn’t home, this has still had a tremendous impact on them. After seeing the condition of the vehicle, they were terrified for their dad’s well-being and were initially too scared to even see his injuries. Watching their dad go through this has been incredibly difficult for them.

Balancing work, getting the boys to and from school, managing our home, and spending time at the hospital with Chris has been overwhelming. We are simply trying to get through this one day at a time.

Any help would mean more to us than we can put into words. Donations will go toward Chris’s medical expenses, surgeries, rehabilitation, transportation, household expenses, and helping our family stay afloat while we navigate this unexpected and life-changing situation.
